“I am a Republican, a black, dyed in the wool Republican, and I never intend to belong to any other party than the party of freedom and progress.” Frederick Douglass
Welcome to The Brother on the Right! I’m excited to have you here! My intention is to provide the best possible resource of Conservative Opinion and commentary from the perspective of a Black American. If you thought conservative and black were mutually exclusive, well stick around because I will do my best to change your mind.
The Brother on the Right is a multi-media based political blog representing conservative principles that this great country was founded upon. It is delivered through the eyes of a contemporary black man with multiple diverse experiences which have all formed my conservative opinion. What makes yet another political blog so unique? You don’t often get to hear traditional conservative commentary from a black guy. It’s practically expected that blacks be democratic and therefore liberal.
….
Well, I’ve always been known for going against the grain and that is definitely true with my political opinion. I feel it is necessary to point out that my firmest beliefs, my most grounded principles and values come from an unshakeable belief in God our Creator. For the avoidance of any doubt, I am a Christian and I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Just wanted to be clear there. Yes I am a black, Born-Again Christian and I will not attempt to conceal that fact.
I believe this great country of ours was founded in fundamental Christian and God based principles and it was those principles that made us great. Period. Any deviation of those principles is where we are weak? A little nervous about sending your kids to school nowdays? It started with the abolition of prayer from the schools and the recital of The Lord’s Prayer.
I also believe that it is our people that make our country great, not our government. The government’s role is to provide a safe and ethical sanctuary for the people to excel individually and therefore together as a great nation. The government’s role is not to enable laziness and lack of achievement. Unfortunately, many people think government is here to “put a chicken” in every pot. Sad. Read my blog regularly and you’ll see why.
I will use humor, video, honest conservative commentary, facts and sometimes pure opinion and gut instinct to make my points. But I will always be as honest in my opinion as I know to be. That may sometimes come across as controversial or combative and if it appears to be…then maybe that’s a good thing sometimes. I like to shake things up a little!
Feel free to leave comments and if appropriate I will share them so everyone can enjoy. You don’t have to agree with me. That would be boring! However, I want a serious yet fun and open debate about the issues. It is through the honest exchange of opinions that we will continue to find and stay on the path that made America great.
Want to get right to the juicy stuff? Right on! I knew you would…
