Latest Conspiracy Theory
Posted by roderick on March 29, 2008
Ok, call me crazy…and maybe I am. But humor me for a second. I’m not really a conspiracy theorist or anything like that because I generally don’t have that much time on my hands to think up stuff like this.
But on a recent four hour plane ride where some guy behind me kept digging his knees into my seat thereby ruining any chances of my customary “plane nap” I instead found myself in a drowsy state thinking up all kinds of crazy foolishness.
Hang on tight and remember…
I told you…
This was crazy talk…
Just remember…
I was sleepy when I thought this…
With a knee in my back…
It’s awfully curious that a number of tough circumstances have occurred in our nation all at the same time: several months before the presidential election. Let’s examine a few of them, shall we?
- Sub-prime crisis
- The Economy
- Collapse of Bear Stearns
- Wild fluctuations in the US Stock Market
- Over $100 per barrel oil prices
- Devaluation of the US Dollar
- Recent sour developments in Iraq
- Increased layoffs and unemployment claims
- Threat of or actual recession
- Burst of the housing/real-estate bubble
Certainly there are more things I could add to this list and of course many of the above items are related to each other, but to the average citizen they appear to all be individual crises that serve to increase our sense of gloom and doom in the US.
Maybe its just me but it seems like a mighty long time since we have faced so many “crises” all at one time. And being a long time believer that the media often works very hard to shape public opinion (since the public often refuses to think for itself and seems to want it’s opinion to be shaped) that some of these issues are a self-fulfilling prophecy of the media.
Many of these crises were planted in the minds of the American public two to three years ago and are now playing out every night on the Evening News. The media wants us to feed in to their gloom and doom so that they can sell more advertising. Bad news sells. It also becomes real after you pronounce it long enough.
Here is where the real conspiracy theory kicks in (at about the same time the ape behind me kicked my back for the umpteenth time.)
Who or what organization has the most to gain by all of these crises hitting the US
all…
at…
the…
same…
time?
I don’t know and I won’t speculate but I do wonder if some portion of what we’re experiencing is caused by a media running wild and if so who would pull their strings to cause so many crises to come to a head all at once?
I told you this was crazy but it’s also somewhat thought provoking. No, I’m not claiming it’s the democrats or republicans who are fomenting so many problems in the US, but what if it’s someone outside the US?
With an agenda much larger than just impacting the presidential election?
Hmm? Just a thought. Or two.
Next time, I’m upgrading to First Class.
Peace…
