The Recession Myth
Posted by roderick on April 2, 2008I’m not an economics expert and have never pretended to be. However, I still retain a basic understanding of macro economics from my college days and that is enough to make me feel qualified to opine about our current “recession”.
The attached story is an excellent insight into the “recession”.
I began wondering some time ago, (see my earlier post) if our economy is controlled by other shall we say “forces” or “influences”. After reading this story my belief is even stronger that our recession is real only because the media made it so.
Oh, yes real money is being lost and real lives are being affected. But it’s all caused by a media scare that became real.

Hi Rod: This is the most stimulating blog in existence, I’m sure. You have created something for folks like me who are not so politically astute, but who want some good info on a complex subject without having to pull through a lot of media content. And, then, not grasping what was said or who to believe! Thank you for the work and thought put into this blog. Your clear, honest thinking has found its mark. I am particularly impressed by your sensitivity to all sides of an issue, though you do make it clear that you are a conservative. Ultra fair. What I want to ask you is about your take on Bear Stearns, or is that not a political isssue? How does any of that situation affect the average American or our economy? I’d appreciate any insight re: that. Oh, and I did read the article you referenced: “The Recession Myth.” That was very, very helpful. I thought my question might have been addressed there, but no. So, I continue my search. Thanks so much.
